Danish tenor-saxophonist Hans Ulrik -
www.hansulrik.dk - has a unique Nordic voice and is
indeed at the forefront of European jazz saxophonism. He
returns to Australia in a fine four piece formation with the
superb Danish pianist Peter Rosendal -
www.peterrosendal.dk, accompanied by two excellent
Australians, bassist Ben Robertson and drummer
Dave Beck, with whom Hans Ulrik also toured Australia
and Denmark on 2 previous occasions. Hans Ulrik toured
Australia in 1998 (with the Joe Chindamo Trio) and in 2002
(with his own group).
Hans Ulrik has during the past 25 years won a number of
awards, a.o.: 'Best Soloist in the European Jazz
Competition' (1988) - 'Danish Grammy as 'Best Jazz CD of the
Year' (1999 with album Jazz & Mambo). He has recorded as a
leader with Gary Peacock, Adam Nussbaum, Niels Lan Doky,
Marilyn Mazur, John Scofield, Steve Swalllow a.o. Hans Ulrik
has released 12 CDs on the Danish Stunt label.
